A 22km stretch of preserved coastline contains many sandy, safe beaches within 5-10 minutes drive. Bregancon (with its fort, the summer residence of the French President), Cabaisson, Estagnol and others are small, beautiful tree-fringed beaches.

Behind them lie charming vineyards offering wine tastings. A cliff path winds for miles.  The beaches of La Faviere run into Le Lavandou, the local resort, with long beaches, harbour, a full range of water sports and  boat trips ( including sports fishing)  and plenty of shops. Huge colorful market every Thursday. Beyond it is another series of charming smaller beaches and two Michelin-starred restaurants.  In the summer season, buses run from the village square in Bormes  ( steps from L'Orangerie)  to the beaches of Lavandou.

Beyond Le Lavandou, visit the beautiful coastal gardens  at Le Rayol Canadel  where the distinctive plants from Mediterranean climate zones all ov er the world are represented. Spend an evening in this beautiful setting listening to outdoor music in the summer.

Driving into the hills behind the village of Bormes brings you to Collobrieres, the local centre for chestnuts.

Take a short boat trip to the four beautiful Iles de Levant. Porquerolles is the most popular, but see the marine nature reserve at Port Cros. At Porquerolles, make a tour of the island by bicycle, stop off  at the lisland vineyards, cool off  with a swim on beautiful beaches naturally shaded  by parsol pines.
