There are some very nice sandy beaches in Suffolk where children can really enjoy playing in the sand and a paddle in the sea.

• The seaside resort of Southwold is best known for its pier and rows of colourful beach huts. It's has a good beach for a family holiday or day on the beach.
• Lowestoft beach - this beach south of Claremont Pier won a Blue Flag award for water cleanliness. There is some family entertainment, kiosks and a soft play centre.

Both Lowestoft and Southwold beaches are patrolled by lifeguards during school holidays.
